Hawaii Pre-Health Career Corps

The Hawaii Pre-Health Career Corps, a program of AHEC, is a free program for high school and college students who are interested in pursuing careers in health. Its purpose is to increase awareness about health careers, provide mentoring, shadowing and research experiences, and provide campus exposure to health careers.

Health Career Navigator

The Hawaii Health Career Navigator helps students explore the various health related careers available to them in the state of Hawai’i. The book, available in hard-copy and online, provides job descriptions, salary info, training requirements, areas of specialization and job growth information for 95 health careers.

CIRCLE Grant Research Program

The Circle Grant program provides students with the opportunity to explore a scientific topic of interest and to get a taste of components of science research, including data collection, reading and understanding scientific literature, collaborating with distance Principal Investigators and local mentors, building your resume and presenting your research findings at a Scientific Symposium.

Native Hawaiian Student Pathway to Medicine

The Native Hawaiian Center Of Excellence (NHCOE) is part of the Department of Native Hawaiian Health at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). The mission of NHCOE is to promote the physical and mental health of all Native Hawaiians by recruiting students into the health professions, conducting health disparities research, promoting faculty and student development, implementing cultural competence development training, and disseminating information resources relevant to the health of Native Hawaiians.

Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising Center (PAC)

PAC is a walk-in resource center for students interested in law, medicine (allopathic, chiropractic, naturopathic, osteopathic, podiatric), or the health sciences (dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, etc.). PAC is staffed by peer advisors trained to help you clarify your career goals, choose a major, plan appropriate coursework, research professional programs, find opportunities to gain experience, and apply to schools.

University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center CREATE Program

“Cancer Research Education, Advancement, Training and Empowerment” (CREATE) at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center (UHCC) addresses the over-arching goal to enhance the training of a workforce to meet biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research needs to lower cancer incidence and mortality in the Pacific. CREATE takes advantage of the excellent research opportunities arising from the distinctive population and environment in Hawaiʻi and the Pacific with strong multi-disciplinary collaborations at the University of Hawaiʻi. Besides the hands-on experience at UHCC, CREATE includes a curriculum of multi-disciplinary seminars, workshops, and career development sessions. The goal of CREATE is to offer distinctive training experiences in cancer biology and in population sciences for undergraduate sophomores and juniors and for first-year graduate students.

HOSA – Future Health Professionals

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health occupations instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership. COPE Health Scholars Program at Adventist Health Castle

COPE Health Scholars, a division of COPE Health Solutions, provides an educational opportunity for individuals interested in making a difference in health care, advancing their careers, and building lifelong relationships and learning through the COPE Connect network.

Our COPE Connect network provides current and aspiring health care professionals the opportunity to continually link with health care delivery, learn from industry experts and lead future innovations in patient care. We offer the opportunity for any individual, no matter where they are on their health care career journey, the competitive edge to succeed in the complex and growing health care field.

Healthcare Association of Hawaii (HAH)

The primary focus of HAH is working with healthcare executives and their 20,000 employees on vital industry issues such as advocacy (in DC and Hawaii), quality and reimbursement improvement, strategic education, emergency preparedness, healthcare workforce, public relations, shared savings and reducing costs. HAH offers educational development programs designed to fill high demand jobs and get you into the healthcare field.

Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)

HCOP high school students are exposed to various health career fields and introduced to academic requirements and campus life through a summer residential program. This program provides an educational pathway to health careers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM), Kapiolani Community College, and Leeward Community College. During their college years, college students receive assistance as they pursue and complete their health degree program.

Good Jobs Hawaii

Good Jobs Hawai‘i focuses on sector partnerships that are industry-led, community-supported collaborations that strengthen our local economies and prepare and connect Hawai‘i’s people to careers in in-demand industries. These sector partnerships will bring together Hawai‘i employers to translate their skills/needs into training programs, certifications, and/or on-the-job training opportunities. 

Na Pua No Eau

The mission of Na Pua No Eau is to identify gifted and talented Hawaiian youth (K-12) and to provide them with educational enrichment opportunities. It is also the Center’s hope that through its efforts, Hawaiians will be among the increasing number of human resource that assists in the advancement of the nation, the state, and the community, especially in technology, human resources, and education.
